Sourpuss Featured Retailer: Heartbreak Boutique and Skates
What is your name and job title at Heartbreak Boutique? I'm Pam Wheaton and I am the owner/operator of Heartbreak Boutique.
Tell us more about Heartbreak Boutique! When did you open and what's changed since then? Heartbreak is a little kooky because it's half vintage inspired/pinup/tattoo inspired/punk/rockabilly/quirky clothing and half roller derby gear! I opened in 2012 and a year later moved to a bigger location. What else has changed besides the move? I am always looking for new and different things to bring in, I've added some really awesome local items to the shop since opening.
What did you do before? Before I open the shop I worked various office jobs - I was good at them, but I felt like I was going to suffocate being in that atmosphere all day.
What's the best part about your job? Best part about the job, hand down is the customers! It's a great feeling to help someone feel confident and beautiful, which they were before, but the right clothes helps bring that out!! I want to give people a memorable experience when they come in the shop.
What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Fruit and coffee!!
What is the most important appliance in your home? Oh geeze, well I'm not really much of a cook, but I do love to eat, so I guess it would be my refrigerator since it holds all the tasty treats.
Do you have any irrational fears? YUP! Porcelain dolls. So that Annabelle movie that is coming out is like my worst fear brought to the big screen. And earwigs. so gross.
Do you like horror movies? I'm not like a huge horror buff, but I do like them. My favorites are the classics - Creature From the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein, and Bride of Frankenstein.
Have you ever ridden an elephant? Weirdly yes I have, almost 30 years ago, at a circus. Which, for the record, I would not be down with now-a-days!
What are you most excited about in the coming months? (Feel free to answer for yourself or for Heartbreak Boutique ) I am excited about Halloween and about a really cool idea I had for photo shoot that I'll be doing for the show, with the wonderful photographer who took these photos for me, Alicia Robichaud. Details are top secret at the moment though :)
Anything we forgot to ask? You didn't ask about why I love Sourpuss!! Besides having SO MANY awesome, fun designs, you also have super fantastic staff (as specially Margaret!!, I had to mention her awesomeness, it needs to be known!)
